During the evening on October 18, 2022, the Ocean City Police Department in Maryland received an alert from an ELSAG license plate reader that a vehicle associated with a person who had an outstanding arrest warrant was traveling southbound on Route 1 at 140th Street. Officers then located the vehicle at a north-end condominium, unoccupied.
Fortunately, through a joint effort among members of the Patrol, Special Enforcement Unit, Narcotics Unit, and Worcester County’s Criminal Enforcement Team (CET), officers were able to take 26-year-old Antonio John Torlish of Ocean City into custody without incident.
Wanted on two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of attempted second degree murder, first degree assault, and handgun related charges, Torlish is said to have shot someone on Sunday in the 500 block of Emory Court, according to Salisbury police. He is now being held at Worcester County Detention Center in Snow Hill.
"I would like to commend our officers for their due diligence and the coordinated efforts among divisions to safely bring Torlish into custody” commented Chief Ross Buzzuro. “This is another incident where the LPR system has proven to be a valuable tool to help keep Ocean City safe," he added.
